Five consumers with strong local networks and experience of dental services are invited to apply to lead consultation with their communities to hear their opinions and experiences of dental care in Queensland.
The Australian Dental Association (Queensland Branch) is the professional association for dentists in Queensland. ADAQ represents more than 4000 members across the state providing services and advocacy for dentists to promote excellence in the field of dentistry and to improve public health outcomes.
ADAQ’s members are now asking what they can do to address the issues that matter most to Queenslanders. For this reason, they want to engage directly with consumers to find out about their opinions and experiences of dental services in Queensland.
ADAQ plan to use the insights gained from these consultations to:
- design learning programs and professional services for member dentists and dental students;
- promote research in dentistry and improve quality of dental education;
- liaise with government agencies and regulators on improvements to the oral health of Queenslanders; and
- create educational resources for the public that are easily accessible and of practical use.
About Kitchen Table Discussions
Kitchen Table Discussions are consultation sessions led by local people for local people. They allow small groups to participate in 90 minute discussions at a time of day, and in a place, that suits them. The discussions enable health consumers, carers and community members who do not ordinarily participate in healthcare consultation to have their say in a safe and supportive environment.
Each Kitchen Table Discussion will be led by a Consumer Host with a strong community network. The host will invite up to six community members to a discussion online via zoom or skype or in-person.
