HCQ would like to share the news that Shyla Mills is stepping down as CEO of Palliative Care Queensland. She is relocating to Adelaide to be closer to family and to take on the role of CEO of Palliative Care South Australia.
Many consumers and health staff on our network have worked with Shyla over the past five and a half years as well as Anne Curtis, HCQ’s Engagement Consultant – Specific Projects, who leads our fee-for-service work.
Anne said, “I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with Shyla throughout her time as CEO, including travelling around Queensland in 2019 consulting with community in relation to Ageing, End of Life Care and Dying, and Compassionate Communities.
During these trips I watched Shyla birth Ambulance Wish Queensland in between meetings and whilst waiting at airports. Each year since, I’ve facilitated Kitchen Table Discussion projects for Palliative Care Queensland and worked with Shyla on the new Queensland Palliative and End of Life Care Strategy.
Shyla is an inspiring leader and will be missed. I wish Shyla and her family the very best for the future.”
Melissa Fox, HCQ’s CEO, added, “It’s been a pleasure to work with Shyla and I know that she will continue to make a positive impact in South Australia by being centred on the needs of consumers and engaging consumers.”
